Born into a family of animal trainers, Brandon McMillan has perfected the art of training dogs. Drawing from his background of wild animal training, Brandon is the first person ever to adapt those methods into a comprehensive program designed especially for your best friend. “If your dog is too wild and out of control, you don’t need an everyday dog trainer... you need a wild animal trainer,” McMillan says. He believes one of the keys to successfully training a dog is breed knowledge. Knowing a breed well is the foundation for training any dog, as each breed requires different training techniques. As Brandon has learned over the years, trust is the first step to a successful relationship, which is the key to transforming unruly dogs into well trained ones. Repetition is also vital to taming any animal and if you make it fun for the dog, they’ll want to do it over and over. Techniques that the “everyday” trainer tends to use just aren't enough in many cases, and Brandon's unique training expertise has demonstrated the difference between a trained dog and a WELL trained dog. Brandon spent most of his professional career working dogs for film, television and commercials. He adds jokingly, “Most of my dogs have a bigger resume than half the actors in Hollywood!” While he still spends quite a bit of time on set, Brandon has found just as much pleasure working with people’s pets to further strengthen the bond between owner and dog.
Brandon’s animal training reputation has been recognized on television many times over the years. He’s had his own television show on Animal Planet called "NIGHT" where he traveled the globe to observe nocturnal behavior of animals. He’s often brought onto national news networks to discuss animal related topics and has even been on The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien to educate people in the world of animals. His credentials speak for themselves and now he brings that experience right to your pet.
Ashlee has had a passion for animals since she was a young child. Growing up on the family's exotic animal compound, Ashlee has had years of experience in the handling of both wild and domestic animals. Realizing the need for a world class training facility in the Los Angeles area, Ashlee teamed up with her cousin Brandon to bring over 50-years of family training secrets to dog owners in Los Angeles. Ashlee manages the LA Dog Retreat facility and lives on-site within shouting distance of the cage-free compound. She is dedicated to providing your dog the personal attention they need to thrive. "By keeping dogs in a natural, cage-free environment, we are able able to eliminate the stress that comes with being separated from the family," says Ashlee. "When combined with training, the LA Dog Retreat provides a "DOGS ONLY" environment in which your pet will thrive!"
